The increased number of viewers in 2020 came from countries where rugby is not yet present

The first time I used Trends to look UWR up was in 2017 and I remember back at that time, we were not even on the map at all. Google did not know of us as a search topic – one had to look underwater rugby as a term up, this way missing a lot of hits in any other languages.

The Orcas helped us out as always and 3 of us got to play with the Serbian team. My plan was that we stay back and use the extra weight to top the defense in front of the goal, but that wasn't happening much.

UWR WC 2019 Results

The average difference in number of goals scored during the first 4 days (group matches) was 11.94. The largest difference belongs to the match between Norway and Great Britain, 52:0. It means Norway almost scored twice every minute, ouch! The average difference of the last 4 days (placement matches) is 5.81. The 50% drop in the score differences meant a lot more exciting matches with levelled opponents. During these days 8 matches ended with sudden death and 2 with penalty shootouts. Wow!

11. CMAS UWR World Championships – The Empire Strikes Back

To sum it up, it is a common opinion that The Empire Strikes Back is the best episode of the SW-saga. The organizers did splendid work to let countries from all around the globe show the best of their underwater rugby. If you’re not watching, you’re missing out!
