We gave up on the pool…

03.03. dates our last training. For the time we got a couple days before, only 3 of us showed up. At the end of February, we’ve requested fixed times for trainings, as that’s a base of any work. Without such, we’re just a bunch of people who get together sometimes to play…

First I had not much success, the pool pointed me towards water polo, the sport actually providing the weekly order for the pool rentals. The guys I’ve met at the polo federation’s office were quite helpful but they also passed on the issue. There may be plenty of 2m deep pools, but the diving pools are in the two most frequented swimming complexes of Hungary already posing as a bottleneck-problem. We should try advancing through our own federation? What if the person who’s supposed to represents us has a conflict with me, which takes its toll on our team too. Schade.
At the time we were preparing for the 2nd match against the other team’s youth. The polo federation did request the usual training times from the clubs, and we also sent out those 2 times we’ve taken on since September, however, we were left out of the next 3 weeks completely. Officially, the Tiszavirág appreciated this, only Szűrös Marci got to me asking what about the time set for them to even the score?

I’ve let it go. It was overridden by a fear of something which we can’t see yet it walks amongst us. The virus, with an appearance that you can predict just like weather, because it’s so viral that it’s spreading can be described by a logarithmic scale, bringing drastic changes to our life. Officially from today (03.17.) on the pools are open to serve athletes with special permissions from their federations only. Maybe it’s because for some reason we have not yet cancelled the water ECs yet. As for me, I decided to not seek training opportunities throughout this time. The forthcoming weeks may show if I’ve overreacted or not, I hope I did. Take care!

The training was great actually, it’s just the fact that a few months back I had 03.03. in mind as a date for an opening party&whatnot and things did not exactly go the way I’ve planned 😛 But rugby is the last thing to worry about now… In the next weeks or probably even months, we have to reorganize our lives to minimalize physical contact and maximalize hygiene. Social distancing is something which is against our very nature and this pressure can become so impactful on societies like industrialization and mass production. The unknown is fearsome.
